I have helped 4 companies get off the ground and running. NewsGator is that fourth and by far the biggest I've ever been a part of. I love my job, I love the challenge, the stress and yes sometimes even the long hours I work. I've been here for 15 months now buried in the organized chaos of a start up company that I love. What I love most is what makes any company succeed or fail, the heart beating in the center of it all, the people. I work with the greatest people. We are an eclectic group diversified by many things but what we all have in common (besides being highly intelligent of course) is that we are one flipping fun and funny group of people. We are smart asses beyond belief, cynical and sarcastic, clever and witty, and our repartee is as good as any Monkey Island banter I've played. We play silly games, We tease each other relentlessly (Like when I hung this classic Bloom County on the fridge and blamed it on John C heheheheheheh), and at any time you can expect to be pelted by one of the Engineers motion sensored shooting machines. Try walking into that office unaware. Heh. There are silly things like Greg and I's "Phrase of the week" where you must use the phrase he and I think of in at least 3 sentences during the week. If you've never heard your VP of Finance and Administration use the phrase "I'm down with that" then you must try it... it's a HOOT! I love these guys. I love them because they are like me. Dedicated, Driven, and Determined, and a hell of a lot of fun.
ON TO THE TURKEYNAPPING (and no not a turkey taking a nap)
A few weeks ago, we had a company employee appreciation night. We gave out many fun and silly awards and prizes. One of the prizes was an awesome stuffed Turkey which was awarded for the bowler who got the first Turkey (3 strikes in a row) of the night. John C won that prize and placed the Turkey proudly on his desk. Soon after the following note appeared. I will chronicle our journey with the Turkey Terrorist by updating this post as the story unfolds.
Missing Turkey Alert Posted Throughout Office
Isn't it just a LITTLE suspicious that the ransom note and the missing poster both have the EXACT SAME turkey clipart????? And I like the fact that the nappers seem to think USiNg ThE sHIft kEy will camoflage their handwriting....
